Summary: | Triumph is the first solo show in Germany of artist Aleksandra Mir. After many exhibitions and projects over the last 10 years, such as First Woman on the Moon, which took place on a beach resort in the Netherlands (30 years after Neil Armstrong hauled up the American flag on the real moon) or a full size inflatable reproduction of a plane, to name only a few, she now brings more than 2,500 sports cups from Sicily to Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt. Mir's new work consists of a unique and glossy collection of individually engraved cups, that touches a multitude of historical, social, and cultural criteria, and will be exhibited solitarily on plinths as well as grouped on the floor. Triumph combines the profane mass culture of our times with myths of heroes from antiquity. English and German text. |
