Summary:Pedro Weingartner (b. Porto Alegre, Brazil 1853-1929), the most important gaucho artist of the end of the 19th century to very early 20th century who was part of the rupture caused by the arrival of the Missao Artística Francesa to Brazil is also considered by many as the most important Brazilian academic painter. Although his artistic career is internationally recognized, his production in paper is scarcely known. The present catalogue is the resulting work of a collective project of a group of 6 art history professionals: Alfredo Nicolaiewsky, Anico Herskovits, Cylene Dallegrave, Mário Röhnelt, Marisa Veeck and Paulo Gomes, who embarked in the difficult task of locating, identifying and cataloguing from public and private collections the master's elusive artwork created in paper: drawings (ink, carbon and pencil), watercolors and prints.
