Summary:A young boy adores his jazz musician father and contemplates becoming a performer himself.
Review by Kirkus Book Review

No story, just a wouldn't-it-be-nice situation. Although the very young, black narrator has a mother waiting at home, he is seen here waiting for his father, a jazz musician, at a club performance. Afterwards the little boy goes backstage, lovingly wipes his father's face with a ""sweat cloth,"" plays a turn himself for the other musicians, then goes home to sweet dreams of his father and his own future music. It's all a sort of wish-fulfilling dream, plain and simple, with pleasant low-keyed drawings that reflect the story's fond soft light. Copyright ©Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
