Description
Summary:India maintains a dominant position in Asia as one of the largest and fastest growing markets in the world. India attracts much attention with its gross domestic product, its educated middle class, and its inherent low cost for industrial production. However, there always remains the issue of the ever-growing population of the country, and the attending population-related problems. This book supplies yearly population figures of gender and age tables from 1881 through 2001, and projections to 2011 and 2021. The book illustrates that the birth control measures undertaken in India have made little impact. Predictions hold that there will be a tremendous population explosion beginning in 2021, which will affect, among other things, food and water availability and the downgrading of the world's ecology. Think India may act as a revelation and inducement for other countries to prepare similar population studies.
