This collection contains well-written papers specially commissioned from experts by the Asian Development Bank on the causes of the recent slower rate of economic growth in the Philippines. The impediments to growth identified and discussed fully include macroeconomic management, human capital, infrastructure investment, governance, industrial policy, and poverty. Besides diagnosing critical impediments to slow economic growth, the contributors recommend appropriate policies to accelerate growth and reduce poverty. A useful volume for policy makers and graduate students in economic development and Asian studies. Summing Up: Recommended. Graduate, research, and professional collections. J. S.
