| Summary: | Secrets have always had the capacity to fascinate us, but also to make us afraid. A wide spectrum of our emotional world is connected to secret things. Emotions such as premonition, suspicion, mistrust, curiosity or unspoken longings often form the driving forces behind our actions. This publication introduces a number of artistic approaches, shows the tradition of the subject, examines core questions from an art-historical and a philosophical perspective, and includes interviews with anonymous 'holders of secrets' (a member of the freemasons, a private detective, an adulterer, the lover of a Catholic priest, a female secret service agent, a woman without papers and a whistleblower talk about their very personal relationship to secret things).
