With the recent ``baby boom'' of the original baby boomers, Dilulio's book is timely. Janet Ashford's The Whole Birth Catalog ( LJ 5/15/83), although broader in scope, is more a sourcebook than the typical bibliography. Diulio states that she offers a selective rather than comprehensive listing that represents, not necessarily ``the best'' books available, but ``a panorama of books which are, for the most part, recently published.'' This ``panorama'' of 174 titles is arranged alphabetically by author, with a title and subject index provided. The lack of comprehensiveness and the sometimes extremely lengthy annotations diminish the book's effectiveness. Not a necessary purchase. N.J.
