By April 1945, the final result of World War II was inescapable, but the German state continued to resist the tidal wave of soldiers, machines, and supplies that the Allies possessed. The author follows both the sixth SS division and its last foe, the American 71st Infantry, from their inception to their last confrontation. The book's value is that, unlike more general histories, it follows two rather limited and well-defined units in great detail as they reach the climax of their missions. For serious enthusiasts and larger World War II collections. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
