The authors, who have had the good fortune of taking part in the developments of alkali metal chemistry over the last two decades, have been successful in bringing together in one volume the basic chemical and physical information needed to study alkali metals, particularly in the liquid state. The large body of literature on the various aspects of alkali metal chemical and physical properties is largely found in conference proceedings, reports, and papers that are not convenient forms for users of alkali metals and researchers in the field of alkali metals. This book is comprehensive, well organized, well written, and has an excellent bibliography. Tables and figures are clear. Topics range from properties of the alkali metals, production, purification and handling, corrosion, reactions and application. Recommended for undergraduate and graduate libraries supporting chemistry programs, and those researchers working with alkali metals.-D.A. Johnson, Spring Arbor College
