Description
Summary:Ralph Darling, governor of New South Wales from 1825 to 1835, was a controversial politician whose administration was the subject of a House of Commons inquiry, but Darling was also a great advocate of reform and a leading figure in the turbulent politics of the 19th century. In this, the first biography of Darling, Fletcher draws on previously unused records and documents from England, Mauritius, and New South Wales to repair the reputation of this much-maligned man and to fill a gap in the historic literature.
