Description
Summary:For more than 30 years the OEGB, once one of the most powerful unions in the world, is in a crisis. Membership, finance, and political influence diminished. How responded the Austrian unions to these challenges, what were the causes of their decline at all; and which ability do they still have to stabilize the Austrian democracy and society? The study comes to the conclusion that the change of the environment (economy, politics, society) was too hard, as that the OEGB had a chance to resist; and at the same time it caused its decline to a good part itself, its earlier strength led to weakness: A history of the OEGB from 1980-2010 with a view to its future.
