Summary:	Includes a major essay by the renown anthropologist ("Bwiti", Princeton U Press, 1982) James W. Fernandez "Fang Reliquary Figures as Objects and Subjects in Two Worlds, A Biographical Approach: Thinking about the Soifer Collection of Fang Arts and Crafts." Includes fully described 98 artifacts of the Fang and their neighbors Kota, Tsogo, Pove, Mbete, Punu and Ngumba: statues, masks, weapons, music instruments, gaming, cookery, adornments and symbols of authority. All color reproductions. Also includes rare old photos of the Fang people. Published by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Limited edition of 250 numbered copies, with additional 50 authors' copies not for public distribution. The catalog accompanies the exhibition of the same title at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, September 17- October 17, 2011. At the opening on September 17, 2011, James W. Fernandez, who as a young anthropologist lived with Fang people during 1958-1960, will present a lecture.
