This beautiful book contains hundreds of photomicrographs of uniformly superb quality. Photographs from every type of light microscope, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope are reproduced. There is a thorough description of the techniques used in preparation of each type of photograph, and technical details are provided for each individual example. This would be an excellent first encounter for students wishing to know more about any microscopic procedure, either to learn the technique to be employed or to examine excellent representative examples. Although the authors are quite skilled, this is by no means an advanced treatise or a text; it is a collection of what can be done to better view small and very small objects. Recommended for college libraries.-F.W. Yow, Kenyon College
