Summary: | It's the Summer term and after a tough and tiring induction year, two primary NQTs, Jody Todd and Lucy Timmins, are close to the finishing line. This programme follows them to see how they get on and manage to survive these testing times. With their Year 5 and 6 classes, challenges abound. There's a bigger, more in-depth curriculum to cover, Lucy has a class of almost all girls just reaching puberty and Jody has a class with difficult behavioural issues. To add to these stresses, the end of year tests loom and both have to prepare pupils for their SATS and optional SATS. With these hurdles still to overcome, the summer holidays feel a long way off. Induction expert and TES columnist Sara Bubb, offers survival strategies and top tips.
