Conway purports to explain the major claims of Karl Marx and to refute them all. This book explains many of Marx's complex ideas in clear and simple language accessible to the general reader and community college student. It also has many good arguments against Marx of interest to the most advanced reader. But this reviewer cannot recommend it to any library because it misleadingly claims that ``none of Marx's claims about Capitalism ... stands up to critical scrutiny.'' That some claims do not withstand scrutiny would be acceptable; however, the uninformed reader may get the false sense that all of Marx's key ideas have been refuted. Conway uses several fallacious and one-sided arguments based on incomplete expositions of key Marxian ideas. For instance, when arguing against Marx's explanation of business cycles and unemployment, he fails to mention the crucial idea of crises of overproduction, and when arguing against alienation, he ignores the central idea of the worker's alienation from his product.-D.C.
