Wolf and Pillemer offer a comprehensive picture of the physical, psychological, material abuse, and active or passive neglect of elderly Americans. The book covers history, definitions, case studies, and treatment strategies. Common characteristics of victims and perpetrators along with risk factors leading to elder abuse are presented. The authors gathered information primarily from the evaluation of three model projects federally funded by the Administration on Aging. The models focus on service brokerage, coordination, and mandatory reporting. In the final section of the book, the authors summarize results of the three projects. Future directions are offered for policy makers, practitioners, and researchers working in the area of elder abuse. This book is very well written and provides valuable information regarding the problem of elder abuse along with a relevant bibliography. For those working with or preparing to work with the elderly in various capacities, it is a welcomed resource. Libraries at all levels. -M. O. McMahon, East Carolina University
