This excellent little volume covers a broad range of discrimination issues involving blacks (including teenage unemployment), women (including family issues), and Jews (a group often overlooked in the discrimination literature). Although the author's own economic perspective is clearly toward the radical end of the spectrum, he provides a fairly thorough review of the conservative and liberal positions as well, drawing on such diverse authors as Charles Murray, Thomas Sowell, Milton Friedman, Greg Duncan, Isabel Sawhill, and Barbara Bergmann. The language is jargon-free; technical terms are explained where they are used. The endnotes and references provide a uniquely balanced literature review. A valuable addition not only to economics collections but also to interdisciplinary collections on discrimination or on any of the populations studied. Academic and public library collections.
