Summary: | Specially designed to integrate the collaboration work between the Pinacoteca and the Centro Leon, the exhibition "The Construction of the Gaze: Brazilian Photography in the collection of the Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo" brings together an important selection of the photographic collection of the State Museum, with more than 70 images produced between the decades of 1950 and 2012. The 26 photographers included in the exhibition, were selected as they play an important role in documenting diverse issues related to art and the Brazilian religiosity. Their creative processes reveal their personal experiences, their way of perceiving the transformations that occurred in various aspects of the daily life of Brazil in the last six decades. Curator and art critic Diógenes Moura explains, "In them we can clearly identify the development of real artists, distant from the "touristic exotic" image of the country "of football and carnival" to whom all my contempt is directed." (Our translation) --Page 19. In reciprocity, the Centro Len Jimenes organized in March-June, 2013 in the Pinacoteca do Estado the exhibition "La inslita mirada irnica de Apeco". (The unusual look ironic Apeco). An exhibition comprising works donated by the artist to the collection of the Centro Leon, reveals the creative philosophy and core values that make Natalio Puras Penzo (Apeco) one of the most unique and innovative of Dominican visual arts photographers.
