Here is one more book that discusses liberation theology strictly in terms of its Latin American context. This limitation aside, the book's distinctive and highly significant feature is its incisive chapter on the philosophical roots of liberation theology to be found in Marx and Hegel. The author also includes a solid critique of the Vatican's theology of liberation. The rest of the book covers much the same material to be found in Edward Cleary's Crisis and Change: The Church in Latin America Today (CH, Jul '85), Roger Haight's An Alternative Vision: An Interpretation of Liberation Theology (CH, Jan '86), and Alfred Hennelly's Theology for a Liberating Church (1989).
