Description
Summary:This is the first comprehensive, comparative account of morphogenetic hormones in all major arthropod groups. More than fifty contributors review earlier work, much of it fragmentary and scattered through the literature, and review recent research on the evolution of these hormones, the tissues and glands that produce them, their roles in morphogenesis in embryogenesis and in post-embryonic development, and modes of action in Xiphosura, Crustacea, Terrestrial Chelicerata (Arachnida), Myriapoda, and Insecta. Volume I is a three-part work (each part is published as a separate book). Part III deals with histogenesis, orgamogensis, and morphogenesis in embryonic and postembryonic events.
