Summary: | The Salon Nacional de Artes Visuales, which takes place every year at Palais de Glace, is the most important contest in Argentina in the field of fine arts, covering painting, sculpture, engraving, drawing, photography, ceramics, textile art, and new supports and installations. The first annual painting and sculpture competition and exhibition was held in 1911. Since 1932, the Palais de Glace has been its permanent venue. "This year attentive to the suggestions of many artists who live beyond the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, was implemented for the first time the modality of competition by means of presentation folders of work. This change facilitated the participation in the competition of people living outside of the Federal Capital. In addition, mindful of the inherent dialectic in which they the art develops, this year we have replaced an artistic category (New Supports and Installations) for another (Installations and Alternative Media)" (Our translation) --Page 11.
