Summary:During the Salvador civil war the Catholic Church was torn between leftist guerrillas and the right wing US supported government. This film explores the conflict and its relationship with the Catholic Church. When Archbishop Oscar Romero was murdered his death served to catalyze rapid growth for the communist rebellion. He had become associated with the rebel movement and his death also saw the El Salvadorean Catholic church dragged deeply into the conflict. A powerful report on the conflict with unique coverage of the guerrilla and jungle life and the horrific urban violence. Strong images of Pope John Paul's visit.
