University of Chicago Library's copy is a presentation copy from Zdislav Škrabal to The Lakeside Press. It included a letter from Zdislav Škrabal to The Lakeside Press, dated June 15, 1946, in which is written the following (from an accompanying translation): "Because publications could not be made public under the German occupation, we took the chance of putting out the work under an assumed or appropriated name of the publisher. We used your name as the publisher... The work of printing and binding was done by Jaroslav Olšák, Mistek. ... Please forgive us, if we have without your permission printed the work, which you may have or will soon have in your hands." Also included with the volume is a response from the president of the Lakeside Press dated July 15, 1946. Both letters and the translation have been transferred to the RR Donnelley Archive. University of Chicago Library's copy once formed part of the R.R. Donnelley and Co. Training Department Library. Donnelley #564. |
