CRS Report.
Summary:Examines the Supreme Court decision in Simon & Schuster, Inc. v. Members of the New York State Crime Victims Board, which ruled as unconstitutional New York State's "Son of Sam" law, a statute that required the profits from accounts published by criminals be paid into a fund for victims. Considers the implications of the Court's rationale for the equivalent Federal statute, and whether any such law is constitutional.
