Summary:"Tess De Araugo is an award-winning author with a deep interest in the history of the Indigenous peoples of south-eastern Australia since European colonization in the 19th century. In the first of several books on the subject, she collaborated with Phillip Pepper in writing The Kurnai of Gippsland (Hyland House, 1985), which won the National Book Council's Banjo Award for Non-Fiction in 1985 and the New South Wales Premier's Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction in 1986. She also wrote You are what you make yourself to be : the story of a Victorian Aboriginal family, 1842-1980 with Phillip Pepper (Hyland House, 1980). Her Boonoorang on the Mornington peninsula appeared in 1993 (Rose Publishing House). This book most valuably records oral history of the Yotti Yotta of the Murray River valley."--Back cover.
