Notes:Barney Baxter In the Air originally appeared in the Rocky Mountain News in 1935. Frank Miller created him for the "Junior Aviator" page of that Denver newspaper. About a year later, Miller and Barney Baxter in the Air moved to the New York News. In December of 1936, Barney was distributed by William Randolph Hearst's King Features Syndicate. "In the Air" was dropped from the title in 1943.
On cover: Based on the famous comic strip.
Three page publisher's list follows the text.
Summary:Barney has developed a new aileron design that will give a fighter plane the ability to out maneuver anything else in the air. He's just successfully demonstrated the prototype and walking into the hangar, hears his new friend Emanuel Don Pedro in a fight with Spike M'Gee, the mechanic. The mechanic had tried to enlist Don Pedro's help to steal the invention. Soon after, Don Pedro receives a cablegram from his father the king of Brazona. War is eminent! He must come home to defend his country from invasion. Don Pedro quickly realizes what a difference the new aileron would make for the small country's defense. He makes an offer.
