Summary:	"IGNCA has undertaken a major audio-visual documentation of boatman culture of peninsular India to look into the lifestyle of traditional people whose main occupation is fishing. Coastal area of Maharashtra remains a very significant part to study the subject through multi-disciplinary approach. The boatmen of Maharashtra belong to the "Koli community" which accounts for a substantial number of coastal populations. The other communities of the region are known as Koli, Kolies, Vaiti Kolies, Mahadev Koli, Survanshi Koli and Mangela. The Koli community mainly spreads in seven Islands of Mumbai and they are known as Koliwada's. Kolis are very religious people. They worship Mahadev, Hanuman and their village god Golpa Devi, Harwa Devi and Sarva Devi. The documentary highlights their professional and working aspects, their lifestyle through their rituals, celebrations, religious contexts, their folklore, songs."--Container.
