| Summary: | Chiharu Shiota (Osaka, 1972) is het meest bekend door haar indrukwekkende installatie The Key In The Hand (2015). Voor de installatie verzamelde Chihura Shiota 50.000 sleutels die mensen van over de hele wereld naar haars tuurden. In dezelfde ruimte als waar de sleutels aan webachtige draden hangen - een terugkerend materiaalgebruik in haar werk - staan ook twee oude boten. Het is een kunstwerk over herinneringen, over ouderdom en reizen. Chiharu Shiota past in een lange traditie van performance- en installatiekunstenaars, vertegenwoordigd door kunstenaars als Ana Mendieta, Janine Antoni, Louise Bourgeois, Carolee Schneemann en Rebecca Horn. Centrale thema's in het overige werk zijn ook vergetelheid, dromen, slapen, kindertijd en angst. Exhibition: Noordbrabants Museum, 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands (24.06. - 15.10.2017).
