Summary:	"This Salve Regina trope is based essentially on the same text as the Audi coelum from Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, and the compositional technique -- a virtuoso echo composition -- is also common to both settings. ... Under a strict interpretation of the then current liturgical regulations, this composition would not be acceptable as a Salve Regina. It could conceivably have been used either as an extra-liturgical Concerto, for example between the psalms in a Vesper, or in fact entirely outside of liturgical celebrations, for example in private devotions at the Imperial Court in Vienna."--Page iv of Score.
