| Summary: | "The purpose of this book is twofold. First, we have attempted to illustrate the application and interpretation of those statistical methods which are most useful in the solution of research problems in education and psychology. Second, we have aimed to provide a background of techniques upon which advanced courses in statistical theory and methodology may be based. The contents of this volume are designed for a two-semester or three-quarter sequence. A choice of contents can be made for courses of shorter duration. In general, the first eight chapters, portions of Chapter 9, "Chi Square," and all of Chapter 10, "Analysis of Variance-Single Classification," are suggested as a basis for an introductory one-term course. Throughout the book we stress modern statistical methods, and some new techniques are proposed. The contributions of R.A. Fisher, applied in the work of George W.
