Summary:Cosmetic dentist and entrepreneur Dr. Catrise L. Austin was born on May 2, 1970. She discovered her passion for dentistry at the age of fifteen while visiting the orthodontist for braces. She went on to receive her B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1991 and her D.D.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1996. She completed her advanced dental training in New York at Brooklyn's Lutheran Medical Center. Austin served as chief operating officer of VIP Smiles, a successful cosmetic and sports dental practice, which she opened in 1998. The practice boasts a celebrity clientele, including singers Isaac Hayes, Toni Braxton and Missy Elliot. The Network Journal named her one of the 25 Most Influential Black Women in Business. She also holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
