Summary: | Investment banker Bernard B. Beal was born on February 22, 1954 in the South Bronx, New York. Beal was raised by his grandparents and first attended public schools in the Bronx. He then enrolled and graduated from the Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut in 1972. In 1976, he received his B.A. degree in economics from Carleton College; and, in 1979, he obtained his M.B.A. degree from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. After a successful career as an investment banker with E.F. Hutton & Co., Beal launched M.R. Beal & Co in 1988, with a primary focus on municipal finance. M.R. Beal was the nation's oldest continuously operated minority-owned investment bank and earned much recognition, including Black Enterprise's Finance Company of the Year award in 2001 and 2011.
