Summary:Corporate executive Robert Billingslea, was born December 20, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio. His mother was Faye Stevenson Billingslea, and his father was Robert Lee Billingslea, Billingslea was raised by his grandparents, and grew up on the south side of Youngstown. He began playing drums at the age of twelve. After graduating from South High School, he attended Vallejo Junior College in California and studied music while performing with various West Coast groups. Billingslea subsequently enrolled in Kent State University in 1960 and graduated from there in 1964 with a B.A. degree in sociology. In 1969, Billingslea went to work for Disney in Orlando, Florida, where he became involved with the NAACP's Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics as well as in other roles. He also chaired the Orlando Human Relations Board, and served four governors on the Florida State Commission on Human Relations. Billingslea has received numerous awards for his civic service.
