Summary:Trial lawyer Chester L. Blair was born on July 2, 1928, in Streetman, Texas. Blair received his B.Ed. degree from Chicago State University in 1952. After graduating Chicago State University, Blair was a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools for seven years. While he was teaching, he pursued his master's level work at Roosevelt University and later earned his J.D. degree from John Marshall Law School in 1959. Blair then went into private practice as a partner in Blair & Cole, where his work focused on criminal defense and personal injury cases. Blair later became the first African American president of the Chicago Bar Association. He served on numerous advisory committees for the Illinois Supreme Court and the American Bar Association. In 1987, he was named a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Blair passed away on March 16, 2015, at the age of eighty-six.
