Summary:Mortuary owner and civic leader Anderson "Gene" Jackson was born on April 22, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas with his twin brother, Abner "Val" Jean Jackson to Janet and Abner Jackson. He was the third-generation operator of Jackson Mortuary founded in 1926 by his grandfather. After returning from military service in 1955, Jackson worked at Jackson Mortuary. In 1968, Jackson received his mortician's license from California Mortuary of Science. In 1982, after the death of his father, he became president of Jackson Mortuary which he operated with his brother. Jackson belonged to the Private Industry Council and Kansas Department of Commerce. Jackson was elected to the Kansas Gas and Electric Company's Board of Directors in 1994 and served as president of the Wichita Chapter of the National Business League. He formerly served as president of the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts. Jackson passed away on September 9, 2012 at age 79.
