Summary: | Engineer and computer graphics designer Marc Hannah was born on October 13, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the Illinois Institute of Technology and received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1977, enrolling in Stanford University where he obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1978 and 1985, respectively. Hannah was vice president of product architecture at Pulsent Corporation, a startup company focused on low-cost delivery of quality Internet video broadcasts. He served as vice president and chief scientist at Silicon Graphics which he co-founded in 1981. There, Hannah developed a reputation for his design of special effects and three-dimensional graphics for the movies Jurassic Park, Beauty and the Beast, and others. Hannah sat on the board of directors for Magic Edge and was profiled in Ebony magazine, Forbes, and others. Hannah received the Professional Achievement Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
