Summary:Business executive Stuart Rankin was born on November 24, 1936 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He attended Ohio State University, earning his B.S. degree in 1961. He started his advertising career in 1963 and by 1965, was working for the Chicago ad agency Leo Burnett. He joined Jesse Owens & Associates in 1971, remaining for ten years and working with clients like Mercedes Benz and Walt Disney Productions, among others, before becoming the advertising manager of the New York Times Company. Rankin formed Equinox Advertising in 1987, serving corporate clients that included Anheuser-Busch, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Ameritech. Rankin retired in 1996, and worked as a consultant and a teacher. Married to Marlene Owens Rankin, the daughter of track star Jesse Owens, Rankin was involved with the Jesse Owens Foundation and numerous other civic organizations. He and his wife were married for more than forty years.
