Summary: | Nonprofit chief executive Hugh B. Price was born November 22, 1941 in Washington, D.C. Finishing Coolidge High School in 1959, he attended Amherst College, graduating in 1963. That summer, he served as a marshal for the March On Washington. He finished Yale University Law School in 1966. Price became the first executive director of the Black Coalition of New Haven. In 1978, Price served on the New York Times Editorial Board. In 1982, he was vice president of philanthropy at the Rockefeller Foundation. In 1994, Price was named CEO of the National Urban League, serving until 2003. Author of numerous books and articles, he has served as professor and fellow at Princeton, University and at the Bookings Institution. He was a member of the boards of Sears, Metropolitan Life and NYNEX Corporation. He was senior advisor and co-chair of the Nonprofit and Philanthropy Practice Group for the law firm of Piper Rudnick.
