Summary: | Author and professor Anthony Asadullah Samad was born in 1957 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from California State University with his B.A. degree in 1980; and received his M.P.A degree from the University of Southern California in 1983. He founded Samad and Associates in 1990, and starting in 1991, worked as a freelance columnist. His various weekly editorial commentaries and articles can be read in newspapers and cyber websites nationwide. In 1996, he was hired into the Los Angeles Community College District, becoming a professor of political science and African American studies. In 2007, Samad received his Ph.D. degree in political science from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. He served as managing director and host of the Urban Issues Forum of Greater Los Angeles-a popular bi-monthly public affairs forum, in addition to authoring numerous books, including Souls for Sale: The Diary of an Ex-Colored Man.
