Summary: | Political leader Dorothy Brown was born in Minden, Louisiana. She earned her B. A. from Southern University in Baton Roughe; her M. B. A. from DePaul University in Chicago; her J. D. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1996. She began her career as a Certified Public Account at Commonwealth Edison and Arthur Anderson and Company. She also worked for the First National Bank of Chicago and Odel Hicks and Company. She was appointed general auditor of the Chicago Transit Authority In 2000, Brown was elected clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, the largest circuit court in the world. Brown was active in several civic organizations, including serving as president of the National Women's Political Caucus of Greater Chicago, and the Women in History Excellence Award and the 1999 Woman of the Year Award. She is founder and executive director of the Star Scholarship Fund.
