Summary: | Educator Rodney Reed was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 16, 1932. He earned his B.A. degree at Clark College in 1951, and his M.A. degree at the University of Michigan in 1956. Reed moved to Oakland, California, where he served as vice principal of King Junior High School, and played an active role in several civil rights organizations in the Bay Area. In 1970, he received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and subsequently joined the faculty, founding the University of California Annual Institute for School Administrators. In 1990, Reed became a dean of the College of Education at Pennsylvania State University. He was elected Grand Sire Archon of the Boul Society in 2010. Reed published numerous works examining the educational system in the United States.
