Summary: | Film actor and comedian Cedric The Entertainer was born Cedric Kyles on April 24, 1964 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1982 and earned his B.A. degree in mass communication from Southeast Missouri State University in 1987. After working at State Farm Insurance, Kyles won the 1990 Miller Lite Comedy Search in Chicago, Illinois. He later hosted BET's ComicView and HBO's Def Comedy Jam. Kyles founded the Cedric the Entertainer Charitable Foundation, Inc. with his sister in 1995. His first sitcom role, on The Steve Harvey Show in 1996, garnered him four NAACP Image Awards. Kyles was a headliner on the 1997 Kings of Comedy tour, the highest selling comedy tour in history, and subsequently made his film debut in the 1998 film Ride. He starred in over thirty movies. Kyles played the lead on the TV Land sitcom The Soul Man from 2012 to 2016.
