Summary: | Photographer George Leroy Chinsee was born on June 18, 1955, in Saint Andrew, Jamaica and grew up in New York City. Chinsee graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City in 1973. He earned his B.F.A. in photography from the New York School of Visual Arts in 1977. In May 1982, Chinsee was hired as a staff photographer for Fairchild Publications (Conde Nast Publications). As a photographer, his area of focus was with the fashion and beauty industry. Chinsee's photographs were featured in many publications, including Women's Wear Daily and W magazine. In 1992, he was selected to be a contributing photographer for the book, exhibition and multimedia project, Songs of My People. He also contributed photographic art to THM Harriette Cole's (his wife) Jumping the Broom: The African-American Wedding Planner and Vows: The African American Couples' Guide to Designing a Sacred Ceremony.
