Summary:Judge Audrey B. Collins was born June 12, 1945, in Chester, Pennsylvania. She earned her B.A. degree from Howard University in 1967; her M. A. degree in public administration from American University's School of Government and Public Administration in Washington, D. C. in 1969; and her J. D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1978. Collins began her career as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. In 1987, she was promoted to head deputy of the Torrance Branch LACDA office. In 1992, Collins was appointed assistant district attorney and a deputy general counsel to the Office of the Special Advisor. In 1994, she was appointed for a seat on the District Court for the Central District of California. Collins served as chief judge from 2009-2012. In 2012, she was awarded the Outstanding Jurist Award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
