Summary:Broadcast executive and professor Henry McGee III was born on January 22, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1974. McGee worked as a writer for Newsweek from 1974 to 1977 before deciding to return to Harvard in 1977 to pursue his MBA degree from Harvard Business School. After graduating, he accepted an offer from Time, Inc. to work as a manager of film acquisition in the company's new venture, Home Box Office [HBO]. Over the next fifteen years, McGee was promoted through various director positions within HBO until he became president of HBO Home Entertainment in 1995. Under his leadership, HBO became the leading force in the TV-to-DVD industry of the early 2000s. He served as president of HBO Home Entertainment for almost ten years until resigning from HBO to return to Harvard Business School as a senior lecturer.
