Summary:Educator and business executive Beverly Ann Evans Smith was born on April 12, 1948 in Massillon, Ohio. Earning her B.S. degree in education from Bowling Green University and her M.Ed. degree from Kent State University, Smith taught high school speech and English and worked with Upward Bound. From 1976 to 1978, she served as assistant dean of student life at Georgia State. After working as a manager in business services at Southern Bell from 1978 to 1983, Smith worked as an AT&T district manager in the Network Services Division from 1984 until her retirement in 1996. For two years, she was a loaned executive for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Smith and her husband operated The HR Group, Inc. in Marietta, Georgia. Smith served as trainer and workshop facilitator in leadership development and strategic planning for non-profits and church groups. Smith was listed in Who's Who Among Black Americans, and was chair of the Cobb County Georgia Board of Elections and Registration. .
