| Summary: | Annotation Documents one in a series of workshops sponsored by the United Nations to recognize and encourage the basic space sciences in developing countries to complement the advances in applied and technical space sciences that are usually far more developed. Contributors from Nigeria, other developing countries in Africa and elsewhere, and the developed world delivered papers on international cooperation in basic space science, education, atmospheric and planetary sciences, the sun, binary stars, and astrophysics and cosmology. The conclusions of the workshop will be presented to the United Nations, which is expected to distribute them to member states where scientists and institutions can use them as lobbying tools with their governments and funding agencies.
