Summary:Catalogue of the exhibition of the same name, with images of Minas Gerais in the Southeast region during the early twentieth century. With about of 170 images produced by mineiro photographer Francisco Augusto Alkmim (1886-1978), the publication presents portraits of workers linked to the gold prospecters, its commerce and industry in Diamantina, in addition to being a photographer of weddings, baptisms, funerals, popular and religious celebrations, landscapes and street scenes. The city, who no longer lived the glory days of the exploitation of diamonds, was sill the birthplace of emblematic characters. Chichico recorded the changes of a universe that floated between modernization and tradition, scenery and inhabitants. His work, therefore, is a broad, rich and exciting picture of the social, racial and cultural history of Minas Gerais, in which we see a metonymy of Brazil's own. The catalog comprises texts by photographer and writer Pedro Karp Vasquez, professor Dayse Lúcide Silva Santos, professor Marcos Lobato Martins and curador Eucanaã Ferraz.
