Summary: | Dentist and broadcast station owner Dr. Judith Marylyn Davenport was born on August 10, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Davenport. She earned her B. S. degree from Penn State University in 1961; her M.S. degree in public health in 1973, and her D.D.M. degree in 1979, both from the University of Pittsburgh. While earning her M.Ph., Davenport focused on low income dental programs, enhancing her interest in dentistry. Davenport entered private practice in 1982. She retired in 2000. As a dentist, Davenport was featured in Fred Rogers' Going to the Dentist. She and her husband, Ronald Davenport, Sr., founded the Sheridan Broadcasting Corporation in 1973 with four radio stations. The corporation's included the American Urban Radio Network, with 400 affiliates. She was a trustee of the Andy Warhol Museum and the Pittsburgh Public Theater. In 2014, President Barack Obama appointed Davenport to the board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
