Summary:Minister Reverend Marvin Griffin was born on February 20, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas. He attended public schools in Dallas, Texas before receiving his B.A. degree from Bishop College. Griffin went on to earn several more degrees, including his M.Div. degree from the Oberlin Graduate School of Theology, his M.R.E. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his D.Min. degree from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. From 1951 to 1969, Griffin served as pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. In 1969, he began serving as pastor at the Ebenezer Baptist Church and sat on its Board of Directors. While a pastor, he raised funds to add a facility to the Ebenezer Child Development Center. On the thirty-third anniversary of his becoming pastor at Ebenezer, the ECDC building was named the Marvin C. Griffin building. Rev. Griffin passed away on December 25, 2013, at age 90.
